Is the private school Christian based?
Yes...We believe God's Word should be the basis for all we do and we strive to teach this concept to our students.

Is the after school tutoring program Christian based?
No...The materials we use in the after school tutoring program are developed by nationally well-known
educational printing companies such as Prentice-Hall, Houghton-Mifflin, Glenco, Heath, etc.  Our reading
programs are also research based and have been proven in the test studies to greatly increase reading
comprehension, reading speed, and test-taking skills.

Do you offer any services beyond elementary or middle school levels?
Absolutely!  We offer reading programs through the post secondary level.  Did you know most adults read on
only an 8th grade level or below?  We feel the state's standardized test scores could improve
dramatically if students would continue to expand their reading capabilities.  We also offer vocabulary
courses that are designed to help students with the CRCT, SAT, GRE, MAT, and any other standardized
test.  Furthermore, we offer help with math courses through the college level.  Our private school also serves
    students through 12th grade.

Why is the private school tuition higher than some other LOCAL private schools?
We are the only private school in our area that has teachers with EDUCATION degrees in their subject areas as
well as a director with a Specialist (Ed.S) degree in Education Leadership and a Master's Degree in Secondary
Eduction.  We are the only school around that gives parents the option of a computer-based education mixed
with a traditional approach to their child's education.  In addition, we use and purchase programs and materials
that have been research based and are appropriate for private or public education.  Our rates are actually a
good bit lower than surrounding area private schools in Brunswick and Jacksonville.  Also, we strive to keep
our teacher to student ratio at 1 to 10 or better.  We do not teach in "cookie cutter" classrooms.  This focus on
the individual child dictates that we spend more $ per student.  We are also the only private school around that
goes the extra mile for special needs.  Our students receive Occupational Health, Other Health Impaired, and
speech services.  We also use Title I funds to offer free tutoring for our school students.

What is a matriculation fee?
This covers materials the students use at school.  We supply their educational materials.

Is the computer style of teaching and learning better than traditional school for the ADD/ADHD
child?
YES!  Because of the multimedia rich curriculum and the individualized instruction, our methods are extremely
beneficial to students with attention disorders.  Students can learn in quiet places, or can move around to
different areas of the building or even read/work outside!  Students can also break when they need to, and not
    wait for a class change.

What if my child finishes a course early and wants to move on?
Students may move at a pace managed by the staff at ALC.  If a course is finished "early", then the student has
the option to add another course, or even go on to the next year in a course!

Can my child select courses from different grade levels?
Yes.  For instance, it would be perfectly acceptable for a 7th grader to take 6th grade English and 8th grade
math if these are the levels at which they are.  However, only high school subjects will count toward graduation
    requirements.

Can I see my child's grades before report cards go out?
Of course!  We encourage parents to come by and check out their child's grades and work.  You may also
request progress reports as often as you like.  If your child is taking the online courses, you can see their grades
at home on the internet.  However, keep in mind that your child will probably have grades with individual
teachers even for classes he/she has on the computer.  The teachers supplement even these courses.
